Indonesia’s ride-hailing giant Go-Jek now lets its Singaporean users pay for rides using DBS PayLah!, according to a press release circulated by the company.
DBS Paylah! currently counts one million users in Singapore. The tie-up with Go-Jek in the city-state will boost digital payment transaction volume among Singapore’s consumers, 35% of whom pay their ride-hailing fare with cash.
While Go-Jek has more monthly active users than Grab in Indonesia, according to App Ape data cited by Nikkei Asian Review, the fight is tougher outside its home base.
Earlier this year, after navigating road bumps during its entry into Singapore, G0-Jek appointed R&D veteran Lien Choong Luen as its general manager in the country. Since then, Go-Jek has engaged in major collaborations, seeking to offer better conditions for their drivers. These partnerships include tie-ups with telehealth platform Doctor Anywhere and insurtech provider Gigacover. Go-Jek also partnered with DBS to develop a straight-through API solution for real-time payment services that can be utilized by Go-Jek’s drivers.
